What does it mean to lead with your heart? Does that sound too corny? Well, in my life, it’s made all the difference. When you lead with your heart, there’s no room for ego, no room for keeping score, no room to hang on to hurt and resentment.
There are 5 easy ways to begin to lead with your heart:
- Remember that each person has their own perspective. Try to step over to where they are, see what they see, and feel what they feel.
- Assume there is always a chance that you might be wrong. Step back and take a look at your own line of thinking. When you do this, you automatically see the bigger picture, which is always a helpful perspective.
- Remember that everyone wants to be seen, accepted for who they are, and loved. Even the most obnoxious person wants that. In my years of advising people one-on-one I’ve noticed that the more unpleasant a person is, the more they are hurting inside. You don’t have to spend time with them, but you can always send them love.
- In all situations, imagine your heart energy radiating out to their heart. When you do this, everything changes for the good.
- When your ‘buttons get pushed,’ remember that it’s your ego, not your heart, that got triggered. Stop, take a breath, expand your heart energy, send it out to the other person, then let love lead the way.
If you will develop these five ways of being into habits, you will see that there is more love surrounding you than you’ve ever experienced. It’s a beautiful way to live, a beautiful way to be, and a beautiful gift to everyone and everything on this amazing planet.
